Was the Golden Fleece Real?
Twoasone pretty much got this right. The golden Fleece was likely to be a story that has been embellished in myth, but based on the very real practice of using Fleeces on wooden boards to collect gold in georgia – kind of like prospectors panning for it. There is no doubt that the argo was real and went on a quest – its just likely that the quest was for treasure and glory, and they brought back the story of the fleeces with them.
