Was the ghost on the battlements at Elsinore really King Hamlet?
I think that most people would say yes- he proved his identity well enough to Hamlet, giving him details that only King Hamlet would have known. However, there are some who say that it’s not actually King Hamlet, but rather evidence of Hamlet’s madness. It depends on how you interpret it. I’ve seen versions (in film and theater) where it has been interpreted both ways. Some say it’s a real ghost, other say Hamlet’s just crazy.
