Was the dropping of the Hiroshima bomb justified + sources?
This question has been posted on here so many times. The answer is a resounding “YES!!!” We saved millions of lives on both sides by dropping those bombs. Yes, it cost lives, but it saved many times that many more. We saved the lives of American soldiers. Just look at the loss in life from kamikaze attacks and on the battlefield. The estimated loss of American lives in invading Japan was higher in the first month alone than the loss of life from the use of the nukes. We saved the lives of Japanese soldiers. They were convinced that killing themselves was a great way to fight. They would fly planes into ships, run up with hand grenades, and fight to the last man. We stopped the fighting before more of them had to die. We saved the lives of Japanese civilians. We had then, and have now, videos of Japanese women and children being trained to kill Americans. Look at places like Saipan and other islands taken by the Americans. Hundreds of civilians threw themselves from cliffs rather than b
The answerers who answered yes without hesitation disregarded the massive casualties among civilians, it was war crime and the US got away with it because it was one of the victors in this war, and the so lame logic that says dropping the bomb was essential for saving lives, even Hitler could have used it if the situation is reversed and it was he who dropped the bomb on American city. JS. I fully understand and aware of the Japanese army war crime but that doesn’t make you better than them by committing a war crime like Hiroshima , it was premeditated murder against civilian, not army bases or factories.
Yes, it was justified. The punishment fit the crimes. The answerer who answered that the dropping of the Hiroshima bomb was a “war crime,” yet failed to mention any of Japan’s war crimes in Asia from 1937 – 1945 and also failed to mention how many of the Japanese military got away with their crimes has not learned enough history to even judge what a war crime is, nor can he understand that for all of the war crimes the Japanese committed in Asia – the deaths of the civilians at Hiroshima and Nagasaki were but a small fraction of those caused by the Japanese. p.s. Thanks for the thumbs down. Now take the time to learn about the war crimes committed by the Japanese in China and the millions of civilians that were murdered there.
