There is no way of knowing now what killed your dog. It sounds to me like he possibly had something lodged in his windpipe or throat which was preventing him breathing. Dogs don’t vomit for the same reasons as humans so the soap and water wasn’t really a good idea. Sorry for your loss.

If you leave a dog outside to bark and annoy the neighbours it’s no wonder someone poisoned it. If you get another dog – look after it responsibly and respect your neighbours right to have some peace and quiet.
