Was the Chicago Air and Water show an exciting event?
n response to Barbara Traczyk-Hoshino about her complaints about the Air and Water show in Chicago (“Terror in the sky,” Voice of the People, Aug. 13): As a supposed teacher, she should take her students down to the air and water show to experience the wonder of flight. The noise of the two high-speed jets she complained about is so minimal as compared to some of the motorcycles and cars with loud radios we hear in our neighborhoods, there are no comparisons. I hope she doesn’t use the airlines since the commercial jets are also quite noisy. Take a train. We should be honored to witness the most skilled pilots and the best equipment ever produced in our military services. There has not been an accident at this air show for years and certainly not one that harmed any civilians. The last line in her letter talks about how astounding the complete lack of sensitivity is. What is astounding is her ignorance of the thrill of experiencing the history and significance of our mighty military. S
