Was the Anschluss a takeover or merger?
formally a merger as a (faked) election was held (over 98% in favor) – the austrian military was told to give way by Cancelor Schuschnig because of the futility of military resistance (and an acceptance of the population which was easily over 55%) in reality a takeover as within hours dissidents where shipped of to concentration camps and the government dismantled.
