I take on board your point. It probably doesnt have the same impact as VE day but recognition of D day and other memorable war time anniversaries have definitely been in decline over the last decade. Tony Blair was the first to ask that VE and VJ day were remembered on the same day,so that he didnt have to take an extra morning off for something he deems trivial.During his term in office,he made great efforts to minimize the rememberance of British military events as he believes they glorify war and offend the sensibilities of the left wing.
