Was Santana Moss ejected for fighting in his week one game?”
Santana Moss, Corey Webster Fight: No Ejection but Fines Coming. Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss and Giants cornerback Corey Webster got into a fight early in the second quarter of Sunday’s game, with Moss hitting Webster in the face and Webster knocking Moss’s helmet off and driving him into the turf in the end zone. It’s not clear what words may have been spoken before the fight, but Moss appeared to take exception to some physical play on the field. Both were lucky that they weren’t ejected, and with the personal foul penalties offsetting, they both basically got away with a fight on the field. They’ll both be fined this week, of course. As for the on-field battle between the two, Webster is getting the better of it. Late in the second quarter, Moss has been held without a catch, while Webster has an interception, and the Giants are leading 17-0.
Glades Central’s 21-7 comeback win against Dwyer in a matchup of Palm Beach County powers Friday night was a hard-hitting but clean battle until near the end of the game when a shoving match between Glades Central’s Clive Walford and Dwyer’s Layton Haynes resulted in the ejection of both players. The altercation, which occurred shortly after Glades Central sealed the victory on a touchdown with 3:04 remaining, quickly was broken up and cooler heads prevailed. However, referee Bernard Arnette and his crew huddled to discuss the incident and decided to eject Walford and Haynes. Arnette told me after the game that it will be up to the Florida High School Athletic Association to determine what penalties will be levied against the two players. According to FHSAA bylaws, it’s likely that each player will be given a one-game suspension. Walford, a 6-foot-6, 225-pound tight end, has made a verbal commitment to MIami. Haynes is being recruited by Florida Atlantic. A word of the wise to all play
