Was Saint Patrick Irish? If so what was his last name?
Maewyn Succat is believed to be the name of Saint Patrick, he was a welsh man captured from Wales and taken to Ireland to serve. He escaped and went back to his family.He then entered the church. Little is known about the places he worked in Ireland and no links can be made to any church. It is said that he introduced Christianity to Ireland by using the shamrock to explain the holy trinity. Although this is disputed by other Celtic Civilisation experts they believe that a man St Mochaomog introduced Christianity to Ireland.
