Was Rousseau correct when he stated that civilised society is only three meals away from REVOLUTION?

I feel that Rousseau grew up in a time when this was true, the French Revolution certainly sparked a lot of such thinking. In a modern world, any dissent is quickly extinguished. Also, people are largely ignorant and don’t care anymore about worldly affairs. Revolutions are for the brave, informed and motivated, not for the Sheeple of our world. Students get tasered for asking volatile questions at public forums, the PATRIOT act is watching and listening as we speak, Darfur is a battle ground where child soldiers are forced to watch their mothers be raped to death, Bhutto is assassinated in the Middle East as 90% of the sheeple in America worry about what Britney Spears is doing.
