Was ragtime music used in the Vaudeville shows in 1890?
The answer allaturca gave is correct in that ragtime was popular from the turn of the century up to WWII by which time it had been supplanted by big band swing, but vaudeville extended beyond the popularity of vaudeville’s days and so was used extensively in vaudeville during the early 20th century. “Stride” is a form of ragtime still played today. And just because something is popular “up to” say 1930 doesn’t mean that it is lost completely.
