A Phoenix fire captain remained in critical condition Friday after a dump truck slammed into a group of motorcyclists in north Phoenix, killing three people and injuring six others. Police believe he was not impaired by alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash. The fire captain, Ernie Lizarraga, is a 22-year veteran of the department. He had surgery Thursday at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix and remains in critical condition.
