Was Merlin both a Christian and a Wizard?
While there may have a been real Merlin, mostly likely everything we have about him in various stories by various authors is mostly fictional. And most likely the story of the sword in the stone is fictional. So if the author of this story portrayed Merlin as a Christian, then Merlin was a Christian. If he portrayed Merlin as a non-Christian, then Merlin was a non-Chrisitan. Of course, any later author could change this or any features of the story. That Teiresias is a true prophet in Greek legendary tales does not make him a Christian. Prophets are as likely to occur in Greek tales, Hindu tales, pagan Irish tales, and Amerindian tales as in Christian tales. And many Christian tales are not true, just idle inventions by Christians.
