Was McCain right to harshly criticize Donald Rumsfeld when he was sec of defense?

As far as I can see, Donald Rumsfeld was a major proponent of the attempt to fight wars on the cheap, which means shorting the forces on sufficient armor, equipment, and troops to do their job. I’m not clear on whether he supplied Veep Cheney with the $50 billion cost estimate for the whole Iraq war, beginning to end, or was trying to support that estimate.

Yes! As a member of the neocon club, Rumsfeld is a blithering idiot. The neocon tactics and ideology have been thoroughly discredited as the ravings of lunatics. However, McCain is not right to say that he will continue the fiasco in Iraq if elected president. The American people don’t support the war on balance, and since we are financing it, we should have the right to call it to a halt, immediately. We should not have to continue the egregious errors of a group of morons who didn’t know what they were doing from the beginning. Besides, McCain will be put between a rock and a hard place if he attempts to continue to defy the will of the American people. The latest reports show that the troops are getting worn very thin, and Americans are certainly not going to support a draft to continue “The Bush Follies.” So, if elected, McCain will have no other choice but to eventually fold the American tents in Iraq and bring the troops home.
