Was Jim Parsons nominated for an Emmy for “The Big Bang Theory”?”
Jim Parsons who plays the geeky Sheldon Cooper on CBS’ ‘The Big Bang Theory” has been nominated to receive a 2009 Emmy Award for “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series” for his role as Sheldon Cooper on “The Big Bang Theory.” According to comicbook.com,he actually co-hosted the nomination ceremony with Grey’s Anatomy actress Chandra Wilson. When Parsons was announced as a nominee, he said, “No! This is some sort of trick fest. I feel a little dreamlike right now.” Parsons has been a breakout star of the series for his role as the control freak Sheldon Cooper on the show. The 61st Emmy Awards will air on September 20,2009 at 7pm central time on CBS.
The nominations for this year’s Emmy Awards were announced this morning with an expanded nomination field in several categories. Several surprises were expected in the expanded field for areas such as Outstanding Comedy, Outstanding Drama and Outstanding Lead Actor/Actress in Comedy and Drama. “The Shield” was the biggest loser, and the most undeserving, in the Emmy nominations announced this morning. In general, the nominators stayed true to their patterns and trends of recent years. All but one of the best-drama nominees was a cable show, and critical fave “30 Rock” scored its usual fistful of major nominations. They did recognize the ascent of new blood like Jim Parsons, giving the “Big Bang Theory” star a well-deserved best-actor nomination in the comedy category – though the show itself didn’t get nominated.
