Was it legal for Wanderlei Silva to grab Keith Jardin by the throat while punching him?
If you read UFC rules: “Throat strikes of any kind, including, without limitation, grabbing the trachea” Wanderlei wasn’t choking Jardine but holding him down, the referee could’ve warned Silva but yes the fight was in full speed for the referee to issue a warning, or maybe the referee warned silva but the crowd was so loud he couldn’t have heard it. I think, generally it was not illegal because Silva was merely holding him down, not choking him. But if it was another referee he could’ve been penalized for holding the neck area near the trachea which is illegal. The whole point is, whether Silva’s move was illegal or not, Jardine had no chance, he was groggy before he went down, and already out cold after 3 to 4 barrage of strikes, it wouldn’t have made any difference.
Yes it was completely legal he didn’t chop the throat he grabbed it i have seen fighter two hand strangle opponents it is impossible to choke a fighter like that with any kind of real damage it is super annoying its like when they cup the face to smother it is legal unlike kimbums strikes to the back of the head every time he fights mma is awesome i wish they would let them do small joint manipulations
