Was it fun working with Duncan, Jamelia and Lisa Snowdon?
I have to say that all of them were totally natural. Lisa Snowdon is a really good actress and Jamelia was great. But above all, Duncan gave such a brilliant performance. I think it will really surprise people; it’s a really brave performance because he’s sending himself up. I take my hat off to him for doing that – he’s playing a character, ‘Duncan from Blue’, rather than himself – a heightened, grotesque take of what boy bands are like and what they stand for. Plus One is a bit of a departure for you, being mainly associated with serious drama… I have done a few comedic roles in theatre but I’ve certainly not done a comedy that’s going to be prime time on Channel 4. It was quite frightening, I was petrified on day one, I won’t lie! You think that it’s all on your shoulders – will the audience like the character and will the jokes work? There is a certain amount of pressure, but that has to be a good thing because I like to be challenged. I look at someone like Andy Serkis who I reall
