Was Horlicks ‘hijacked’?
AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on Thursday demanded a CBI inquiry into the pilferage of 9,240 bottles of Horlicks from a godown at a village near Sholavandan recently as there was a suspicion that the stolen bottles were the ones distributed free of cost at a function in Kadamalaikundu, which falls within her constituency of Andipatti, by Union Chemicals Minister M K Alagiri, on July 18. In a statement, she said the inquiry was needed as the public had the suspicion that the 8,700 Horlicks bottles distributed in connection with Chief Minister Karunanidhi’s birthday celebrations in Kadamalaikundu on July 18 were the ones that went missing on July 12 mainly because the Sholavandan police had refused to register a complaint filed by the godown owner, a businessman from Namakkal.
