Was homosexuality as severely derided in 1958 as pedophilia is now?
Though they contain the similarity of a sexual component, pedophilia and homosexuality have nothing to do with one another. Comparing them can’t lead to any productive information. Was homosexuality derided in 1958? Yes, probably much more so than now. It was considered to be a mental disorder and if a homosexual was portrayed in filmat all, they were generally the villain or insane. Things have changed progressively for the better, thank God.
I’m not sure, I wasn’t around in 1958, as I’m sure is the case with the majority of people that belong to AB. Homosexuality was considered reprehensible and morally disgusting in those days, just as pedophilia was, is, and always should be. Homosexuality has progressively been accepted by society because it encompasses mutual consent. Pedophilia does not, and is unnatural due to the mental incomprehension and physical under development of children. I sincerely hope this question is not an attempt to make the case that there is an equal comparison to the two.
There are people who deride both homosexuality and pedophilia equally. This was true in 1958 and is true now. However, I believe that most people do not look at them as equally deviant. I think that was also true in 1958 and is true now. I also think this is a leading question meant to encourage people to question their acceptance of homosexuality.
