Was Hitler allies with South American countrys such as Chile and Argentina?
ALL of South America had SMALL groups of people (often German immigrants from decades before) who supported Nazi ideas… BUT the Governments were either Neutral or Allied during the War. Argentina – The country was neutral during World War I and most of World War II, becoming an important source of foodstuffs for the Allied Nations. There WAS however a portion of the military who supported the ideas of Nazi Germany and provided under-the-table assistance. Chile was also neutral. The country aligned closest with Nazi Germany would have been Brazil… Between 1933 and 1938 Germany became the principal market for Brazilian cotton, and its second largest importer of Brazilian coffee and cacao. The German Bank for South America even established three hundred branches in Vargas’ Brazil. Brazil WAS invited to be part of the axis powers at the side of Japan and Italy. However, from the Brazilian refusal in accept this invitation and the advent of the “Estado Novo” in the end of that same year
