Was George Scotts portrayal of George Patton accurate, was the American Flag speech what Patton said?
Yes and no and that is what is so wonderful about George C Scott the actor is that he could take a historical figure and craft an image that will live on as the historical image. The speech was pretty much accurate but Patton in real life, much like several other famous men, had a squeaky grating voice unsuitable for public speaking, and he was shorter then Scott, plus a few other quibbling details but none of that mattered once Scott took on the role even Patton’s family & friends approved!
