FDR was probably the most direct heir as far a domestic issues go. Wilson being the last Progessive president. FDR drew off Wilsonian principles and polices for his adminsitration, for Wilson the war was a distraction but he did turn it to implement his ideas. FDR drew heavily from Wilson’s wartime principles & polices to implement his economic policies. Bush drew of some of this but each president since FDR has expanded on his legacy, some more than others. Bush, as I have said before, is not an original thinker and drew heavily on the actions of past presidents. Actions which these presidents received little to no criticism. Obama is probably a more direct heir because Wilson created & entered new ground as President Obama is doing. Wilson was a Progressive/Classical liberal and Bush would be a Classical liberal. Obama is well beyond the concepts even dreamt of by Wilson and lies somewhere between modern Liberal & Socialist. Our choices in the past few elections have been between the
