Was General Sir Douglas Haig awarded for causing 419,654 deaths & casualties of British soldiers at the somme?
Over many years i have heard Douglas Haig vilified for his actions in WW 1 Emotionally I feel they are justified but I have long had a niggling doubt. It is simply this. After over 90 years no one has actually come out with a viable alternative given the equipment and training available at that time.
