Was Friars OT loss to USF unacceptable?
To be honest, I’d forgotten about the comment. Thanks to the sharp memories from the folks at thebullspen.com, I now remember a juicy little backstory to USF’s amazing 109-105 overtime road win at Providence, which saw guard Dominique Jones set a school record with 46 points, helping the Bulls come back from an eight-point deficit with 46 seconds left in regulation. Providence coach Keno Davis, doing a Q&A with ScoutFriars.com last summer, had this random jab at the Bulls, which we posted here on the blog back in June: “If you take a game off vs. Rutgers, or vs. South Florida or vs. DePaul, those are the losses that are unacceptable,” he said. “If you play really hard, and you happen to drop one at Seton Hall, you can live with it. If you play hard and you just get beat you can live with it.” What’s amusing is that Providence’s last two wins were against Rutgers and DePaul, by a combined 30 points.
