Gainesville, FL (Sports Network) – University of Florida defensive end Carlos Dunlap was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with DUI. Gainesville police Lt. Keith Kameg said an officer responded to reports of a reckless driver in a Chrysler and found the vehicle stopped at a traffic light. After waiting through a few signal cycles, the vehicle remained stopped. Kameg said officer Robert Rogers approached the car and saw Dunlap slumped over in the front seat, apparently asleep at the wheel. The car was still in gear, but Rogers was able to reach through an opening in the window to put the car in park. According to Kameg, Rogers said Dunlap had trouble standing and was somewhat incoherent. Field sobriety tests were administered and Rogers said Dunlap performed poorly. Dunlap, after refusing a breath test, was arrested at 3:25 a.m. (et). GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida defensive end Carlos Dunlap was arrested early Tuesday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence, leaving the top-ranked Gators’ sack leader’s availability in question for Saturday’s SEC championship game against Alabama. Gainesville police spokesman Keith Kameg said officers saw a red 2000 Chrysler stopped at a green light at about 3:25 a.m. on a street near the UF campus. Officers watched several light cycles before approaching the car. Inside the car, they found the 6-foot-6, 290-pound Dunlap slumped behind the wheel. The driver appeared to be asleep, Kameg said. The vehicle was on and in gear. According to Kameg, the arresting officer reported Dunlap performed poorly on a field sobriety test and refused to submit to a breath test.
