Was exploring Modest Mouse on the brilliant ‘Tiny Cities’ record ultimately a satisfying experience?
It’s funny; I remember doing an interview with a young journalist about ‘Tiny Cities’. She asked, “Why did you change the melodies?” I said, “Have you even heard the song ‘Exit Does Not Exist?’ What melody are you referring to?” I had a lot of fun with the Modest Mouse songs, but it was a temporary obsession, but meaningful also, like the AC/DC record, or the John Denver album that I put together.
