Dr David Kelly’s body was found at 9.20am on the 18 July 2003 by two volunteer searchers, Paul Chapman and Louise Holmes with the help of their search dog. They said they took care not to disturb the scene or get too close to the body, and contacted the police as soon as they found Dr Kelly. Their description was of a body “slumped” or “sitting … up against a tree”.
