Was (defensive tackle) Booger McFarlands trade performance-based?
A. It was a combination. The (Indianapolis) Colts are making a run for the Super Bowl so they were eager (to make a trade). And we like Ellis (Wyms) and wanted to give him an opportunity to see if he could do it. We really do like Anthony McFarland. He had been given a good opportunity here to perform, and it’s not that he performed poorly. People tried to criticize his performance, but I didn’t see it that way. I just saw it as a way to help us down the road and a way to get some young guys on the field. Q. What are some of the things you saw that you did like this year? A. The benefits of all these young players getting so much playing time and game experience will pay dividends down the road. You can’t replace regular-season game experience. That’s the positive.
