Was Chartism simply a “knife and fork question”?
Chartism was, because of the diversity of interested parties, never a knife and fork question, that quote, as I pointed out in response to your other question, was not about Chartism but about Universal Suffrage, suffrage was one of the aims of the Chartist but not the only one, by Joseph Rayner Stephens, a Methodist minister (he also advocated the use of flaming torches as a weapon).
