no, it was power… he attempted to micro-manage and control everything. And if you’re trying to blame Stalin’s atrocities on his atheism then you should bear in mind that his mother was an extremely devote christian, Stalin lived in the home of a priest who was his father figure and Stalin attended and graduated from a religious school. So a religious upbringing did nothing for him of any use.
