A suspect led Dallas County constables in a winding pursuit this afternoon that ended in Garland when a pickup slammed into the driver’s side door of the suspect’s car. It began near the intersection of I-635 and I-30 about 1 p.m., when constables attempted to pull the small gray car over for a routine traffic stop, authorities said. The chase wound through parts of Dallas, with Dallas County sheriff’s vehicles assisting and a Dallas police helicopter helping from the air. The chase ended when the suspect drove past a group of cars stopped at a red light and into the path of the oncoming pickup at Plano and Buckingham roads. The crash heavily damaged the suspect’s car, but authorities did not immediately disclose the suspect’s condition. The pickup sustained relatively little damage.
