Absolutely not! Satan is not a part of the Thelemic pantheon, and nowhere is Satan mentioned in The Book of the Law itself. This is a label that has been thrust upon Crowley by ignorant Christians, who had obviously never read a single bit of Crowley’s writing! During his lifetime, he was known as “the wickedest man on earth” and because he associated himself with the Qabalistic number 666, his negative image grew in the eyes of the unknowing. While it is quite true that Crowley eschewed all forms of organized religion, most especially the fundamental Christianity practiced by his own parents, this did not mean that he was a Satanist. I will remind the reader that he did very little writing on Satan as a dualistic antithesis to Jesus Christ, and the few comments he made on the subject can in no way be construed as his believing in or having an allegiance to such negative energy.
