Was 1939 the best year the movies ever had?

It must have been amazing to sit down in a theater and see The Wizard of Oz for the first time. There had never been a movie like it before and it has yet to be bested. Gone With The Wind must have thrilled audiences. I don’t know how the Academy voters could pick just one picture for Best Picture. Movies now are sad and dismal in comparison. Every week we have a teen comedy, a new horror picture that features even more blood and gore than the one from the week before, and a new kid’s movie. I don’t think that we had two really great movies last year! What happened to our great movies? Sources: http://mobzilla.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/wizard_051121093613245_wideweb__300x282.
