Vinland Saga seems more full and varied than Lovelorn, what can attribute the bands progression to?
Liv: We wanted to replace the classical samplers by natural elements. This lead to the fact that the recordings for Vinland Saga took a bit longer than the recordings for our debut Lovelorn. The album is inspired by music, Norwegian and Celtic traditional music, thus this album has a “fuller” and more natural sound. I developed singing-wise to follow the atmospheric changes in the music and to continue developing the classical music singing, which I already practiced on the first album. Moreover, I sing in Norwegian and English. Singing in my mother tongue is quite new to me. It makes the lyrics more personal. However, it was absolutely worth it, even the sleepless nights; now we are 100% satisfied with the result. Blistering.com: Do you find it necessary to involve your personal life with your art in order to make an album like this? Liv: Yes. I need to identify with the art I create to be able to accept it as something made by me. I follow my heart and my emotional state. Blistering.
