Vibration Cause?

1953 MGTD. After the test drive we were left with one unanswered question: there is a vibration above around 3000 rpm (note: related to rpm, not speed). Being rpm related kind of limits where in the car the problem could be. Any comments? Tell more about the vibration. You did not mention any noises, so things I would look at would include: Engine stabiliser – engine can move and touch something Engine mounts- soft front mount could cause engine/steering column contact Wobbly fan Compression is OK. Even pressures are more important than max pressures. TDs had 7.25 compression when new anyway. Clutch out of balance? Maybe, but not likely. If it were coming apart, wouldn’t you hear noise when engaging/disengaging? And its action be erratic? Flywheel bolts are inside the clutch contact area, so they could loosen a bit w/o getting into the rotating works. Flywheel is located by two pins that poke from Fwheel into crankshaft flange. If Fwheel were loose, wouldn’t there be noise and strange
