I’m pretty sure it was Jupiter. If you go to http://www.heavens-above.com/ and then click on ‘Whole sky chart’, you can enter your location, and any time of day, and it’ll bring up exactly how the stars and planets were aligned in your location at that point. EDIT: Just checked for my location, and yep, it was Jupiter! I’ll have a look myself tonight – clouds permitting!
