Vegetarian teen and irregular periods for over 2 yrs, is this normal?

Being veggie has nothing to do with irregular periods. Periods are often irregular at the beginning. As long as she is eating a balanced diet, it shouldnt be a big deal.

Never heard of this I have been a vegetarian for over 20 years and was one right through my teens and my daughter is a vegan and has started going through her teens. As long as your friends teen eats a varied healthy diet her vegetarian diet will not alter her periods. They are usually irregular for most teens for a few years and there is nothing to worry about. All your friend needs to do is read any book on puberty and it will say the self and same. I actually would question the nurse who suggested that the irregular periods is down to being a vegetarian as that is very inaccurate.

As a teenager, when I ate meat, my periods were irregular. It’s completely normal for any teens to be irregular. In some case, women don’t get regular until after having children. Basically, each person is different, and if the mom is that worried…..blood tests can be ordered to see if she is deficient in anything. By having irregular periods though, should keep her iron levels higher!!!
