Vasectomy Question: Is it possible to cause pregnancy after a vasectomy?
After the surgical procedure, pregnancy can result in several ways. 1. There is residual sperm in the system for about 3-4 weeks after the procedure. Intercourse too soon after the surgery can result in pregnancy. 2. Improper tying of the tubes can lead to small numbers of the sperm migrating from one cut end to the other and then into the penis. There were cases of this at first until the procedure was perfected. However, there is always a small chance of reconnections occurring or sperm migration. 3. Surgical procedures can be performed with microsurgery to reconnect the spermatic cords resulting in restored fertility about 80% or so. There are many babies born to men in second or third marriages who need surgical correction.
