The White House, the NAACP and USDA Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack have apologized to Shirley Sherrod, but should Tom Vilsack lose his job over the fiasco? Shirley Sherrod resigned from her position as Georgia Director for Rural Development for the USDA after edited portions of a speech she delivered to the NAACP were taken out of context and went viral. Shirley Sherrod was not given due process, there was no investigation and she was not given a chance to explain her point of view. Questions remain over the process that ensued, resulting in Sherrod’s resignation as well.
