Australia is one of our prime partners in SEATO, which has been around for over 50 years. In addition it has been Australia who has stood by us in Korea, Vietnam and both the 1st and 2nd war in Iraq/Afghanistan. However, they are a country of 20 million, with a land mass the same as the USA, where India is a country of 2 Billion, and an army and navy/air force to match. They are a much larger force to be aware of in Asia, and we need them (along with Aussie land, which I hold citizenship in! Lived there for 7 years in the 90’s) as a buffer against those countries that would destroy the democracy we have worked so hard to achieve and maintain throughout the world. Would we go to war to protect Australia, absolutely, no question, you are one of closest countries, though we are half a world away!! Go Brisbane, go toads!!!

Australia and the US already have close ties, militarily and economically and so on, these go back to WW2 and have continued strongly ever since. It makes sense for the US to have closer ties with India in that particular part of the world.

What is your question?

*Sadly, we had to bring back ads too. Hopefully more targeted.
