Like most public universities, the University of Louisville has seen a decline in state support over the years. Currently, state appropriations account for less than 19 percent of the university’s budget. Tuition and student fees account for another 21 percent. That leave 60 percent that must be made up in other ways–including philanthropic gifts from alumni and friends.
