Universal HOT replacement for TVs?
Warning: as noted elsewhere in this document, the following approach is much less likely to work with long term (or even more than a few millisecond) reliability in high performance computer monitors. (From: Chris Jardine (cjardine@wctc.net)). I shouldn’t say this, but, the TV repair shop I worked for a number of years ago stocked 1 universal Horizontal Output Transistor 2SC1308K or NTE238. This worked in almost every set out there that used a transistor and not SCR’s (RCA, etc.). This may not be the best way of substituting, but, these 2 part numbers seem to have fairly high gain, power capability, voltage ratings, current ratings, etc. These characteristics made it a good substitute and when you buy 100 at a time you would get a really good price.
