Hi! Leon, yes, it’s good to spray Enzymatic solution’s on instruments at the point of use as it can enhance both mechanical and automated cleaning by machines. The objective being to loosen all the possible bioburden (Blood & Lipids) so that, the mentioned cleaning methods are facilitated. I have heard of different protocols in other countries. Personally it’s good to disinfect in the decontamination area with visual inspection depending on the type of instrument, if it had to be mechanically cleaned.Disinfecting instruments at the point of use sounds good depending on the type of disinfectant and the type of bioburden being infected with specific infective microbial agent/s involved with specific patient. Again, it’s a good practice to disinfect all instruments at point of use assuming that all microbes are infective. My thoughts is that it’s good use disinfectants which are safe to be used at the point of use on specific instruments which are used on potentially a patient whio is cla
