Union Catalog Questions Question: When records are swept into the Union Catalog are the old records replaced by the new?
Records from the DASites have been loaded into the Union Catalog as new, resulting in duplicate records for the same titles. This is being addressed by a deduping program that will be more sophisticated than past deduping efforts. The new program, currently under development, will compare duplicate records and selectively identifies tags missing in the base record and, if found in a duplicate record, copies the tag from the duplicate record into the base record. This will result in a richer, more complete base record, a SuperMARC record.
