Under what conditions are solar collectors active?
Solar collectors are heated by solar radiation no matter what the outside temperature. A solar thermal system is nearly as effective in the winter as it is in the summer, whether it is 30°C or -30°C. Even in the presence of clouds, as long as some light reaches the solar panels, the solar thermal system will work to some extent.
