Remember, we know that the Mutants can move and resculpt the Earth through he power of the Blood…the Citadel is living proof of that, created by the Voice and Jared together. Part of that “through the mountains” could conceivably be a long, narrow canyon – whihc Auryn, by using similar powers, brought crashing down on the Mek troops, thus sealing the canyon AND eliminating a large contingent of Mek troops by being crushed in a umpty-ump ton rockfall… The strain of moving that much of the cliffsides could have led to her death as well – overexertion IS known to cause strokes/death… At least it all ties together, and requires no stretch as far as the lore goes – the mountain pass made inaccessible through a rockfall during the “invasion”.
