Yes its against UK law to give a false statement to the Police in any circumstances, from wanting to get someone arrested or to avoid getting into trouble yourself, if the Police find out you will be forced to re-evaluate your statement under interview and caution and maybe put into a prison cell for up to 7 days for perverting the cause of justice. Do not lie, it’s not worth it!
