Ugh I HATE LINKSYS. is D-Link router better?
I couldn’t tell you, I have a D-Link Cable Modem and a NetGear RangeMax router (Love my NetGear). Honestly if you do decide to get a new router regardless I would say stay away from “N” its really not that big of a deal unless you plan on transferring large files between computer, it won’t speed up your internet. On top of that if you get N you will have to upgrade your NIC in order to take advantage of the increased speed anyway.
If a Linksys product is having problems it may be covered under a warranty. Check your product documentation to see how long you’re covered for. It’s not Linksys’s fault, sometimes parts just go bad. I don’t think either company is better than the other. But if you plan on purchasing a new router or adapter, it doesn’t really matter whether you get G or N.There isn’t a big difference between them, but if you’re transferring files between computers or doing something like that, then N would be the way to go. G, however, will suffice in most situations.
Don’t blame the router – The problem is probably a neighbor with a leaky microwave oven, a new 2.5GHz cordless phone, or another router trying to compete with yours for the same channel. Change the channel on the router, They go from 1-11. Choose one that is 5 away from the current channel . For example, if you are on channel 1, try channel 6. If on 9, try 2.
