Many of us have tree damage from high winds in the recent storms. Is this covered by our Texas Homeowner’s Policy? Maybe, maybe not. Here are the basic facts: • Any damage to building or structure (garage, tool shed, fence, mailbox, etc.) from falling trees or tree limbs is covered. The cost to remove the tree or limb from the damaged structure is covered. There is no limit to these coverages other than the policy limits of your contract. • Damage to fences may be excluded if you have an AA coverage policy with a form HO-47OT attached. • After the tree or limb is removed from the damaged structure, the cost to remove the tree or limb from your yard and dispose of it is limited by the debris coverage of your policy. This debris removal coverage may be subject to your deductible, depending on the contract language in your policy.
