Fleas can transfer to a human host as well or clothing. Fleas can jump and transfer to humans, beds, floors, and other areas of your house. It is possible that the fleas were brought into your house.

It is hard to tell from your question whether you had fleas in your house before or not. If you haven’t then you need to have your house cleared of the fleas and also talk to your vet if you need to get your cat treated further.
